The Hindu goddess Saraswati is said to ride upon a swan. Swans have very sensitive beaks, said to be able to discern pure milk from milk mixed with water, and thus they serve as a symbol of the ability to discern between good and evil, right and wrong, and the ability to apply knowledge for the gain of the world and not for selfish or evil reasons.
Our Saraswati Swan is a beautifully carved, three dimensional wearable sculpture. Carved from Bloodwood, the color variation and grain gives these pieces a beautiful and distinctly unique look. The neck is to be worn through the piercing while the body hangs below and the wings swoop gracefully upward, as if the piece is about to take flight. Being one of our most elaborate production (non-custom) pieces to date, these take ages to carve, and are sure to be noticed!
The smaller sizes measure approximately 2 3/4" (70mm) in length and are 1 1/16" (27mm) thick at the base of the body. The largest size measures about 3" (76mm) in length and slightly over 1 1/8" (28.6mm) in thickness at the base of the body.
For your reference, the wood pieces are very limited availability compared to the horn. If you like unique, this is it. They are thicker and have deeper carving than the horn due to the larger scale of the raw material.
