Double flared, slightly domed face plugs made from Amazonite, or "Amazon Stone," named as such because it was once believed the stone came from the Amazon River area. Fairly rare, it has been discovered in only a few places in limited quanitity - Russia, a few localities in the United States and more recently in Madagascar. This particular material is from Brazil.
The stone exhibits a bright green-blue coloration, often with white streaking and/or inclusions. The stone was used by the ancient Egyptian culture, along with peoples in India and Mesopotamia for jewelry and adornment as early as 2000BCE. This is the last bit of this rough we are finishing up from Brazil so we can start on our much brighter (and unfortunately more expensive) local Amazonite from here in Virginia.
Note: The 0g / 8.2mm plugs run slightly large.
